Nenobia Washington, an influencer also known as BK TidalWave, has died. She was 38.
Washington appears to have fallen to her death from a building, according to an ongoing police investigation. NYPD officers found a woman — later identified as Washington — “unconscious and unresponsive” in front of a building on the evening of Oct. 30, Complex reported.
She was taken to a nearby hospital, TMZ reported, where she was pronounced dead.
Her official cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but sources told TMZ it’s believed Washington jumped from six stories up. David Jackson, the father of Washington’s son, Tyeleck, told TMZ that he’s been informed Washington fell from a window, although accounts of the incident from purported eyewitnesses have been varied. Reports that Washington was missing ahead of her death, however, are incorrect, Jackson said she was never missing.
The local character first became an online sensation in 2015 after her interview with the publication HotNewHipHop went viral. In the video interview, Washington offers her impassioned opinions and discusses her adoration for Jay-Z, Beyoncé and the music streaming service Tidal.
Fans took to social media to express their grief at Washington’s passing following the news of her death.
“R.I.P to an icon, legend, the queen of Brooklyn Bktidalwave, you will be missed queen,” one supporter wrote.
“RIP to the Queen of Brooklyn Zenobia I loved seeing her video all across social media she was truly a legend prayers to all her loved ones she will be truly missed,” wrote rapper Misharron Jermeisha Allen.
“Our hearts are with BKTIDALWAVE and her family today. Rest In Peace to The Queen of Brooklyn,” tweeted Tidal’s official account.
A GoFundMe campaign to “raise funds for Nenobia Washington aka BK TidalWave going home service” quickly surpassed its $30,000 goal.
